Thank you for illuminating what Ash Wednesday is all about. I have been a Free Lutheran member all my life but never really experienced Ash Wednesday. I don’t ever remember discussing it in church or home. I only became aware of it by seeing an ash cross on the forehead of catholic neighbors and when I asked about this practice it was somewhat taboo as a discussion or practice. This message is very much appreciated by myself and Allen who grew up Jewish also members of catholic faith and wondered what that meant.
